5 Card Story

Was thrilled to see Alan Levine's '5 card story' is still functioning. It is an online game of sorts which allows the player to choose a sequence of 5 images chosen at random from the Flickr photo sharing site and create a narrative. I had a play this morning and am relatively happy with the result.

Photography is a journey and as with any subjective medium, for me it has always been about perspectives. Digital photography is both an artform and a science. I love nothing better than venturing into the country along walking trails or into secluded locations. This often provides a glimpse into the private world of those gentle creatures who share our earth. I'm frequently unsuccessful in recording this encounter by virtue of its spontaneity or the intrusion of visual elemtents. This only motivates me to seek new methods of behaviour modification to greater maximise my control over these situations e.g walking at a reduced rate. There is always more than one way to respond to a challenge. More frequently I am rewarded with a serendipitous discovery such as the light falling on a bloom or twig creating a wondrous visual display. These journeys always provide soul sustenance and enable me to continue the journey excited by countless possibilities and the absence of a closed horizon. A journey towards the unknown
